John 6:55-59 ESV

For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.

As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.

This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.

Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.

Transubstantiation and John 6:51-55 |
Like many passages in John's Gospel, in John 6 Jesus is using imagery to describe His divine mission, and the crowds mistakenly take Him literally.
John: Who is this Man?
This gospel was written by the disciple of whom it was said, "Jesus loved him." John was the closest intimate of our Lord during the days of his ministry, so this constitutes a very important gospel.
