God designed prayer to give his disciples the joy of bearing fruit while God himself gets the glory.

The great need of the hour is to know God more deeply and personally and biblically. Only then will we find great delight.

I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit. 3

Expository study of John: To grow closer to Christ, abide in Him, in His word, and in prayer; live to glorify the Father by bearing fruit; abide in His love; obey His commandments; and stay focused on His joy.

One consequence is a vital prayer life. Verse 7 moves from fruit bearing to prayer. The condition of prevailing prayer is to abide in Christ.

This promise that Jesus made to us is so sweeping in its scope and seems beyond the experience of many of us that it can strike us as unbelievable...

God is glorified when we turn away from ourselves to him in the confidence that he will provide the help we need.

God can do far, far more than we can think to ask. But that doesnt mean whatever we wish lines up with his sovereign plans to bring us good.
