As I was reading about Joseph's unjust imprisonment the other day, I was struck all of a sudden with the similarity and contrast between Joseph and John the Baptist.

Anger with God is never righteous anger. Our blaming him always betrays some fault in us, never in him.

Pain and suffering exist to make plain the horrors of the sinful heart and the wonders of the sovereign Christ.

If all things work for my good, then I will never be ultimately defeated in the cause of Christ.

Satan is sending his fiery arrows at Christians all the time. The Bible prepares us to see them, and defend ourselves against them.

When you feel the sting of seemingly pointless pain, keep trusting God. Just because it feels pointless doesnt mean that it is pointless.

Thorns in the flesh are weakening, humbling, and often embarrassing. And they are also Gods tools for killing our pride and keeping us near to him.
